Haruya Higashiyama is a lovely - typical Japanese house with squeaky floors and small rooms which add to the charm. The cleanliness is excellent overall, and the location is perfect in a small alley - close to the metro station and just a 5-minute walk from Gion. The staff - especially Kaori at the reception - is very kind and helpful - offering local insights and recommendations. Plus - the option to rent bikes for a different perspective of the city is a great service.

I stayed at this amazing traditional Japanese inn for 5 nights with my brother. The 100 year old building is in excellent condition and the cleanliness is exceptional. The staff was kind and went above and beyond to help, even when I lost my credit card. The room was beautiful and charming, and the staff's kindness truly touched us. I will definitely come back to this inn if I return to Kyoto.

super cheap - only £10.50/night pp. Very clean. Great location - close to subway - lots of places to eat nearby. Staff speaks fluent English - helps with sightseeing plans and even makes reservations. The traditional Japanese house is charming and quaint - feels like a dollhouse.

The staff were super friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with any questions or problems we had. The location was great, close to public transportation and within walking distance to popular attractions. And the bed was so comfortable, perfect for resting after a long day of exploring.

The bathroom was a little inconvenient as it was located outside of the room. , the stairs were quite steep, which made it a bit difficult to navigate with luggage.
